Wish I had seen this earlier but I just now checked my email. Please follow the link to read the whole article and see the body of the actual email. Below is the story on this latest threat. It would be a good idea to do a thorough scan of your PC with your anti-virus and then again with your anti-spyware just to make sure you are not an unwilling bot.Trojan being distributed via a fake Microsoft alert message with the subject line "Conflicker.B Infection Alert". The "From" line says "From: Microsoft Windows Agent" and may be followed by any email address, including your own.
Do not be fooled by this email. It is not from Microsoft. Microsoft never sends emails with attached executables or zipped files. Also, note that that "Con*ficker" is misspelled as "Con*flicker" (we have to use asterisks to keep ISPs from blocking this newsletter).
If you execute the file(s) attached to the aforementioned email, you risk infecting your computer and unknowingly making your computer a bot and part of a broad botnet. You see, these emails were not sent by a single spammer, rather they were sent by a large botnet of previously infected computers. These computers are just like yours, but they have been infected recently, or sometime in the past, with a Trojan and thus have become part of a large network of bots, controlled by an individual or groups of individuals at a remote location, and all sending the same message (the message shown above) to hundreds or thousands of email addresses. These messages are being sent surreptitiously without the knowledge of the computer's owner. If your computer becomes infected with this kind of Trojan, your computer could become a part of a similar botnet (network of bots) and send out thousands of spam or malicious emails without your knowledge.
We have received over 700 of these malicious emails since midnight last night. We're certain this threat is spreading rapidly around the Internet. It's important that you take steps so your computer is not comprised. It's not only your computer at risk but the computers of others too. Make sure you have antivirus and antispyware programs installed and updated with the very latest definitions. And remember: NEVER, EVER, EVER open an attachment from anyone unless you're absolutely sure you know who sent it. You cannot always go by the "From" address. A compromised computer can send email which appears to be from any address - including your own or one of your friends. Don't take chances. Use your common sense and good, updated antivirus and antispyware software.
And in other news LOL,...tonight is my first night back on night shift!!! WhooHoo! No more convoluted random work hours, schedule changing every week, days off changing constantly, not getting my two days off together,..... I will miss all my buds from days, but I needed to do this to ensure regular hours for home schooling. And we have good people on nights. Hard workers, and high standards. Hopefully they will have figured out my schedule when I get there tonight. I'm curious to know what days I will have off. Now I will be able to plan for vacations, time off,....And while it may mean less sleep for me, if I need to do a special errand, I will have my days to do so.
Earlier today, Sidney and I ran some errands. His shoes were still like brand new, but had gotten to where they pinched his toes. So off we went to the Mall and amazingly we found the shoes he wanted in the first store we went into. He loves them!!! They are very cushy, and extra thick around the heel. There was no contest on what kind of jacket he wanted. We headed to Aeropostle for a fur lined hoodie. Amazingly they had his size, even though they had very few, as they are a popular seller, and frequently sold out. Then we stopped and had lunch at a fast food Chinese place in the mall. He loved his food and ate it all, even though he was getting rather full LOL. We left there and went to the local WalMart, only to find that his favorite stylist was on vacation. I was terrified that he would want to bolt, when another stylist came up and we described our "problem". Sidney is at that age where he wants to grow his hair and have some length. I am at that age where I can't stand to see a head of hair from the caveman era LOL. We endeavor to compromise, but most stylists usually make him look like he had a chili bowl cut,(blunt baby look), or they cut it way short and then it sticks up everywhere. He was very pleased when we left. She managed to give it style and shape, retain a lot of the length, and his bangs weren't cut like a 2 year old's. Once we were home and it dried, he wasn't as happy with it LOL, since the bangs didn't look as "cool" as when they were still wet lol. Trying to get him to use styling products is an exercise in futility lol, but he isn't upset, and I have a son that looks presentable.
If you haven't noticed yet, I uploaded more photos recently. It was of our second trip to Cumberland Gap. Wish we could go back and spend an entire week! Take care and I hope to be back soon. GBU!
